Quit one contract and got laid off (quiet quit) from the other, both because AI was drowning me. Bosses asking us to review thousand-line-long PRs that were terrible.
I had almost 50 months of runway when I did that. Now I'm at about 12-15 months left.
I left my six-figure income to a low five-figure that doesn't cover bills but at least I can code without using AI at all.
I can tell you that we are not safe. The damage is done.
I tend to see two polar opposites types of posts here: The AI psychosis type and the complete denial type. But it takes balls to admit I was wrong and make a post documeting I changed and why and thank the people who corrected me. As DHH said, he he admits he has opinions on things, sometimes wrong due to ignorance, but he's happy to be proven wrong. I think this is kind of rare in the higher echelons and deserves respect.
At our company we approached AI a little slowly and it's been a great help for laser focused tasks or menial tasks, so the middle ground is the thing that works well for now. For how long? Who knows, but at least for me AI is a blessing that let's me have energy after work to learn coding of other languages I would have a really hard time picking up.
Also forgot to add: I think this could be an interesting time to pick the top talent lost in the streets (if they want to of course), what strange times we're living now.

The older you get, the harder the “no consequences” becomes to tolerate. My dad raised me that a person’s word is his or her bond. He lived it.
Now we have people wanting to weaken Sarbanes-Oxley because they know they’re planning to lie on public financials.
I am so poor that I only own my word. That is why it worth billions. I only have one.
