You’re rightfully pin-pointing the modus operandi of most tech firms in the Silicon Valley. Sadly, the industry gives credit to PR news with nothing to show for it -I used to be on that side and it’s deceptively easy to trick people.

Besides LLMs competition, there’s a race to be open and “composable (connectors, plugins).

Anthropic is playing the same game you described for OpenAI. Lots of half baked plugins.

Today I tried their Slack connector. To my surprise they don’t support private Channels making it useless.

If you don’t know Slack, it’s like building a Gdrive connector that is restricted to public folders. Useless.

The rest of their plugins are of the same caliber: built in s hurry as demoware.

Announcements move stock prices and close funding rounds within days, creating hype and noise across the company. Integration quality shows up in support tickets six months later, by which point the announcement has already done its job, and no one cares. Nobody gets fired for shipping demoware because the metric that mattered was the press cycle.
